OS X Mountain Lion – What is Missing? A Quick User Review
on July 26, 2012 at 5:03 pm
Well, a day later and I have finally OS X Mountain Lion up and running. No fault of the O/S that too me so long, just have not been home for the past 24 hours.
What have I noticed right off the bat? Although my MBP is now over a year old, for some reason I notice the display looks better? Not sure how could this be as the hardware is still the same, but something definitely looks better.
What is more visible are a few things that are missing.
- Facebook Integration – So Facebook was supposedly being built in with the release. Being the Facebook junkie I am, one of the first things I wanted to do was set that up only to find out that it will not be happening until the Fall. Major disappointment and miss here by Apple. Never should a feature be promised that can’t be delivered upon release. Never would I expect a company such as Apple to miss the boat with something like that.
- While Twitter integration seems to work, responding to tweets that show up in your notification bar is a big miss. If you are going to have it so that you can read these tweets so easy, I would hope that it would be just as easy to respond to the tweet. However, after being notified that someone had tweeted me there was no way to instantly reply. Seemed like an extra step to have to either go to the twitter website or use the Tweetbot app to reply.
- So the new iMessage is suppose to instantly delivers your messages to all of your Apple devices. Unfortunately, this is yet another feature that does not work yet. It is promised to work with the release of iO/S 6. But again, why advertise something to work with this release only to drop the ball and leave us waiting once again.
- So you can swipe to the right to get to notification center… So they say. I can not seem to figure that one out. Once it is opened, I can swipe to close it. If anyone knows if swiping to show it works, please let me know how.
So for now, two of the features I was most looking forward to I instantly learned were not so much featured at all. I guess I have something to look forward to… Well, now I’m off to continue exploring. If I come back with another update in a day or so and let you know what I think of the rest of Apples latest O/S update!
@StupdLittleBlog
I bought a brand new Imac 3.4ghz I7 27in with all the options.. very expensive. Received it on July 28th 2012. Can you believe that I had an OS that was several versions back on a brand new Imac from apple. So I installed Mountain Lion and now some of the applications are missing. Does anyone know if it should have IDVD and IWEB as part of the installation. it is not there.
thanks
