If you are like me, then you have been very disappointed in the fact that the Official Twitter app for Mac had not been updated in some time before they recently announced that they pulled the plug on the app for good.  Well, lucky for us, we have a new option and if I say so myself, it is quite an improvement on what the official twitter app was!

Tapbots has officially released Tweetbot for Mac!  I’ve been using the alpha and beta since the program was announced and could not wait to get my hands on the final version.  When I saw it was released, I was a little taken back that they were charging $20.00 for it, but I quickly got over that and made the purchase.  It may seem steep for a  Twitter App, but as a one time charge, it is well worth it.  Especially since the release is limited due to the fact that Twitter is limiting the amount of tokens they are allowing for the App.  In reality, I have spent more money for apps that I have used far less than I will this one.

The display on the timeline is very clean looking, making scrolling and reading tweets a pure pleasure. Following replies and conversations is as simple as ever.  It only takes one click to read replies or a two finger swipe to the right to display the conversation.  The only thing missing here is being able to swipe back to the left to get back to the original timeline.  In order to get back to the timeline, you must click the conversation button in the upper left and click on the “Timeline” button again.  Hopefully, a future update will add the left swipe feature to get back to the timeline.

One of my favorite features is that my Tweetbot for Mac and for iOS are synced with iCloud so I will know exactly where I left off and what I read last if I am on my MacBook Pro, my iPhone or my iPad. If column view or multiple windows are your thing, that is available as well, making it easy to ready your main feed along with one of your lists simultaneously.  Also, if you are tired of reading about certain topics, you can block tweets by hashtags or keywords.  If you are not a political person, add in words like “debate,” “Obama” and “Romney,” and you won’t have to find out what everyone else thinks about that boring debate they are watching tonight.

There is absolutely nothing stupid about Tweetbot for Mac! It’s like Twitter on steroids.  Remember not to hesitate.  Supplies are limited because once all the tokens are gone, so will be Tweetbot!
